A Smashing Start for the Camerababy Elite Basketball Team

(Walnut, CA – October 3, 2011) Monday, October 3 marked the first day of training camp for the newly formed Camerababy Elite Basketball Team. This was the first time that these selected players train together, five of whom had just flown in from other states the previous night. The Head Coach, Ray Johnson, and the trainer, Jennifer Liu, were all present to conduct the training of the team.

To start off, Jennifer led the team with a set of warm up drills to get the players mentally and physically ready for the upcoming intense training camp. After which Coach Johnson led the team through a series of drills and then started working on the offensive plays. “I have done some research of Asian Basketball,” said Coach Johnson. “They like to play zone defense because that works very good under FIBA Rules. That was why when we started to learn the offensive plays, we started with the plays that were designed to break zone defense.”

The chilly morning was considerably warmed up as noon approached and the initially quiet team was chatting and laughing together by the end of first session.

In the second session, Jennifer led the team through one hour of intensive strength and endurance training. “These guys are already in very good shape to start with. Their muscle strength and stamina are also at the peak. But my training will develop their muscle flexibility even further,” Jennifer appears pleased with the form of the players.

The pleasant atmosphere was intensified as the training drew to a close. Coach Johnson himself was getting friendly with the team and was glad about it. “It was really good to see the team get along so well. By the end of the week, we'll have some serious team spirit right here,” commented Coach Johnson. And that team spirit will undoubtedly propel the Camerababy Elite Basketball Team forward in the upcoming Asian tour.
